Musical Genres
- Downbeat -
Covers a broad spectrum of electronic music, but generally refers to contemplative background music that is not geared towards the dancefloor. This is music to chill to, to wind down to or to be inspired by. While beats are commonplace, they're more of the head-nodding than dancefloor variety.
- Found Sound -
Music composed from Mother Nature's sample library. Field recordings processed digitally to allow them to be cut into tiny pieces, morphed and resequenced into soundscapes or music of any genre.

Track Classifications
- Pre-recorded interview -
A casual interview recorded at the interview's or interviewee's convenience; optionally edited in the studio at a later date to overdub vocals, or to edit recorded material to aid continuity.
- Live Mix -
A real-time performance of one or more compositions, mixed into a seamless piece. Usually played to a group of people, Panoramica uses Ableton Live to separate out track elements which can then be recombined as desired.
- Live Studio Mix -
Just like a Live Mix, but this one's done in the studio. This means more prepatory sleep, less pressure and maybe even a few practice runs beforehand.
- Live mix, re-edited in the studio -
Provided that the computer is up to the task, live mixes done using Ableton Live retain full editability afterwards. This means that any mistake in the original live mix can be corrected after the fact. Perhaps the computer used on the night wasn't powerful enough to play back multi-track audio without stuttering, or perhaps I'd only had one or two hours sleep.. Whatever the reason, those mistakes can be removed, if I feel that it helps the continuity of the mix to do so. Of course once a mistake has been fixed, the recording is no longer a true example of a live mix.
- Single -
One composition, as opposed to a mix of compositions.
- Studio Mix -
Final mixdown of one or more compositions, usually sequenced on a track-by-track basis. Not a real-time performance, so there's a much greater level of control, but this can also lead to a more rigid feel, and less spontinaeity.

Colloquialisms
- Kiwi -
The national icon of New Zealand, the Kiwi is a small flightless bird that, like many club-goers, feels more relaxed under cover of darkness, than under the bright searchlights of daylight.
A Kiwi is also the name given to anyone from New Zealand, regardless of whether they are nocturnally-biased or not.
