Mixes: While_you_were_Sleeping 3

The second set I played live, at the third While_you_were_Sleeping.

Set Artwork.

This was the first time I'd used Ableton Live to mix an entire set and it certainly kept me on my toes! As a result there are some fairly repetitive beat patterns happening throughout the mix, but the panicked mixing also allowed me to get through a lot of material in a short amount of time - so there's also a lot of variety.

This set contains plenty of classics (Rush Hour, 00110, Sunbed and Pod), a remix of a tune that was originally composed for Materialise but never used (M), an edited outtake from a recent extended jam session with long time collaborator and friend JB Marken, aka Martin Osborne, (Afro Dub), and a handful of last minute creations (A4, Post Jam, iLude, Burble and Play 187) - many of which were pulled from unfinished tracks that had been cluttering up my harddrive for some time.

That's one of the things that I love about live mixes - they're a good opportunity to air material that would otherwise have to wait for some distant time in the future in which I was actually 100% satisfied that it was 100% perfect and 100% ready to go on a CD or a 12" with my name on it...

The BPMs in this set were all over the place, and I remember one of the guys telling me that they'd tried to dance along but had given up after the nth tempo change. Hey, what I can say? I make downbeat not dance music.

And finally, unlike some of the other sets up on this site, this recording was taken from the main desk rather than through the software, which means that this mix hasn't been edited in the slightest - so it's 100% Pure Panoramica... Enjoy.
